We start in Vallenar and cycle along the urban riverside of the Huasco River which is a place for relaxation for the city’s inhabitants as well as for sports- and cultural activities. But further it is habitat of diverse flora and fauna, especially for a variety of birds. On the way we also find vestiges of the former mining activity in the area. Once we left the city behind, our way takes us into the valley following an antique railway route where in former times minerals have been transported. In this sector called “El Jílguero” we can enjoy beautiful views of the Huasco River making its way down in between the desert hills.

We visit a place whose existence is quite surprising in the environment where it is located. Let yourself be enchanted by an abundant vegetation of ferns, mosses and rivergrass that surrounds an old stone bridge built between the rocks. Here we enjoy the silence, that permits listening only to the water and the birds.
